I hope everyone is having a great Lord's Day. We have a couple of us sick here, but as always God continues to bless. I was sitting here thinking and meditating, and a thought came to me that was so good that I just had to share it with you. We call Sunday's the Lord's Day, and a lot of people go to churches all around the world to "worship". I put the word worship in quotation marks because a good majority of us end up not doing it.
Before defining worship, let me tell you what it is not. It is not going to church, singing three songs, listening to a 30 minute sermon and then going home to watch sports. Worship is reverence. It should be done EVERY day. You can do it wherever you are at. While studying and meditating on the Word and attending church is a part of serving God, it is not worship.
So what is worship? Worship is defined as "the adoration of God." Adoration is a Greek root word meaning "to adore". Is that what you did today? I think that we as Christians miss this. We are stuck in our rituals and our holier than thou reputation, we forget to really worship God. We can look throughout the Bible and find men and women worshiping God. I really like the story of King David when they were bringing the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and the Bible said he danced before God and the congregation for all of his might. He did this for 19 miles! And we grumble about getting up early!
I cannot "show" you how to worship. I cannot teach you how to worship. Some preachers and churches hold classes on this, but I tell you with all of the authority God has given me as an anointed servant that only the Holy Spirit can lead you in true worship of the Great I AM. You say how does that happen Jesse? Have you tried asking? Find you a quiet place free from distraction, clear your heart and mind, and then ask the Lord to show you how to worship. Its not words and its not action, it is the adoration of God! Enjoy your time with your King, and I would love to hear how it turns out!!
